About me

Kizomba found me.

Portrait of Lena Morena

In 2008 I heard this music for the first time in a salsa club in Madrid. After just a few beats I knew: this is my dance. It has never let go of me since.

As a child I learned piano at music school. It trained my ear and sense of rhythm and gave me a deep understanding of music that I still draw on in my teaching today.

I am a Semba and Kizomba coach in the Ulm/Neu-Ulm and Augsburg area and have been guiding people into the world of Kizomba, Semba and Ginga for more than 17 years.

  • 2014German Kizomba champion
  • 17+years of experience on the dance path
  • Certifiedinstructor for Kizomba, Semba and Ginga
  • Ulm · Augsburgclasses, workshops and private lessons

My dance journey

  1. 2008

First encounter with Kizomba in a salsa club in Madrid.

  2. 2009–2019

I teach Salsa Cubana and gain experience as a dance teacher.

  3. Training

My heart beats more and more for Kizomba, Semba and their African roots. I attend festivals, teacher trainings and private lessons and dance all over Europe – especially often in Lisbon and Brussels, where I immerse myself in the culture, music and history of the dances.

  4. 2014

With my dance partner Donald I become German champion at the first German Kizomba championship “Africadançar Germany”. We then represent Germany at the world championship in Milan and reach the final. More important to me than the title are the experiences, encounters and friendships.

  5. Certification

I learn from many well-known teachers from Angola, Belgium and Portugal, including Petchu & Vanessa, Lanna & Paulo, Miguel & Susanna, Dilson & Bernadeth, Cazuza, Lucia, Frans & Sarah and Jose N'Dongala (Kizombalove). I complete my final certifications in Lisbon with Petchu & Vanessa and in Belgium with Jose N'Dongala.

My method

I teach according to the “José N'Dongala Kizombalove Methodology”: clear, structured and technically clean – with a feel for the music.

The method is aimed at people who were not born in Angola and did not dance as children. The goal: to dance like a “native dancer”. The lessons follow nine dimensions:

  1. Musicality
  2. Technique
  3. Style
  4. Figures
  5. Combining figures
  6. Improvisation
  7. Creativity
  8. Theatrical expression
  9. Choreography

My dance philosophy

Understand the music

It is not about memorising as many figures as possible, but about understanding the music.

Feel confident

You get to know your body better and eventually dance without thinking about steps – calmly, joyfully and without pressure.

Just try it

Dancing is not a question of talent but of trying. Clear structure – and room for your personality.

Kizomba? Semba? ... what is it?

Dance is more than movement. It is expression, communication and a mirror of culture and history.

In the dances of Angola and Cabo Verde, rhythm, feeling and community meet. Two cultures – connected by music, shaped by emotion and carried by movement.
